Pattern Making

Charles makes all patterns in-house. That way, we know that the factory will make the samples correctly. We will never outsource this most important step of every style that needs to be developed.

We have the capacity to develop first samples for selling. Hopefully you get orders, but we want to support every customer with the ability to develop samples to try to sell.

We are experienced in working with design ideas from start-ups to season designers, and we will guide you through the process and get the necessary information to begin.

When necessary, we will make a full muslin for mannequin or model fitting before proceeding to a first sample.

Sample Creation

We sew all samples in the factory that will do production. This is a very important aspect of our development process as this confirms that the pattern is workable at scale production, and that the factory understands the finishing requirements.

We have the capacity to sew all fabrics, including woven, silk, knit, and leather. We will recommend the most appropriate finishing for each style.

We do not work with outside patterns to make samples as many times bad samples are due to bad patterns, not bad sewing.

All-Inclusive Size Ranges

We are experienced in developing patterns in standard sizing, as well as Petite and Plus size. We develop a special base pattern for each size range and we never just grade to another size range.

Runway Samples

We are also experienced in the unique development requirements for Runway Fashion Shows. We can quickly interpret your fashion look for a show or photo shoot.

Production Fittings

We can attend your production fittings and finalize the pattern.

We will use your fit model, or we can recommend a fit model. We will develop the fit of your brand with your collaboration so you can grow your customer base.

Marking and Grading

We will digitize your finalized pattern into a computer and grade the size range according to each customer's required grade rules. We can also recommend a grade rule if necessary.

We will determine the best yield for production based on the width of the production fabric.

Scale Manufacturing

We have no minimum requirements. We know that all orders are not large and we are here to support all of your orders. We want you to be able to rely on us.

We can manufacture in New York City or in China. We have long-term relationships with all our factories and are able to accommodate various size orders.

Because we always do the product development here in New York, the production is always to the specified quality.

Production pricing is based on units, so be aware that small orders will have a higher labor price.

Quality Control

Our quality control begins with our rigorous oversight of the product development process. We develop the pattern and make the first samples in our own production factory, allowing us to streamline the production process.

We require each factory to sew a first sample from cut production before proceeding with the lot. Our customers are welcome in the factory during this process so there are no secrets.

Every project will be overseen by Marianne and Charles so you receive their personal guidance and experience.
